Twenty-seven year old Dorchester native Charles (Chaz) Maneikis hopes to be part of the revitalization effort on Dorchester Avenue through the success of his business, The Modern Dog.

Launched in November 2013, The Modern Dog provides dog walking services, professional grooming, a DIY dog wash, overnight care, and high-end dog foods, treats and toys.  The idea for the business venture began when Chaz began dog walking a week after graduating from Stonehill College.

“My goal is to offer Dorchester a high-end dog specialty store,” said Chaz. “I’m originally from Dorchester and I’ve always been pretty connected to the neighborhood.  I am hoping to help attract other new businesses to the area and be part of the revitalization effort on Dorchester Avenue.”

When Chaz isn’t holding down the fort at the Modern Dog, he can be found trying new restaurants in Boston, or reading anything written by Boston author Dennis Lehane.  Stay tuned for more Modern Dog as Chaz has big plans for expansion and meet some of his furry friends here.
