So I know we have been promising a Jamaica Plan reflection for about two weeks now. Devin and I went to Jamaica Plain a few weeks back and had a fabulous afternoon exploring, eating and drinking. We have been terribly busy at ONEin3 and so we apologize for being so slow at getting our reflections out. Next Friday, though, neighborhood reflections Jamaica Plain Style will return…so check back on in.
Until then, we have decided to get you warmed up for our reflections by featuring JP for Fun Fact Friday!! Enjoy!
-Founded by Boston Puritans looking for farmland
-Used to be part of the city of Roxbury and became part of Boston when West Roxbury was annexed to Boston in 1874
-Became one if the first street car suburbs in the US in the 19th century
-Made up of many “districts” such as Forest Hills, Hyde Square, Egleston Square, and Pondside.
-Some popular restaurants in Jamaica Plain include, Ten Tables, La Pupusa Guanaca, Centre Street Cafe, and El Oriental De Cuba (use the comment section to let us know we missed and what your favorite is!)
-Popular bars around Jamaica Plain are Brendan Behan Pub (dog friendly!), James’s Gate (cozy up to their fireplace), and the Dogwood Café. And we would be remiss if we didn’t mention Bella Luna and Milky Way, JP’s home base.
-Also don’t miss JP Licks (you probably know the chain but this is the first one…hence the JP in the title!!!)
As you can see this is a just a small list of facts about Jamaica Plan so feel free to let us know other facts or favorite places in the comment section. Stay tuned to my reflection on my visit to JP next Friday!!
