Boston Common, the Emerald Necklace, Charles River Reservation, Waterfront Park, Southwest Corridor Park …… countless of gorgeous open spaces are here in Boston with easy public transportation access or within walking distance from your house. Behind these well constructed and maintained open spaces is the City’s rigorous effort in developing better plans for the Boston citizens over the past decades.

Take all your memorable tees and send them to Project Repat and, voila, you have a beautiful t-shirt quilt blanket. Even better, Project Repat quilts are made in Fall River and Lawrence by production partners who pay their workers a fair and living wage. Ross and business partner, Nathan Rothstein, demonstrate that you can create a financially successful business but do so in a way that is environmentally and socially responsible. It’s about paying people well for the work they do, and making products out of recycled materials rather than creating something new.

Innovation is everywhere. Not only can technology be innovative, art and music can be too. The Innovation and Economic Development team at ONEin3 wanted to show this with innoPOP! series, pop-ups which show that innovation is in every area of Boston and in every industry.
The first pop-up will be taking place this Wednesday at Me, You and the I.D.’s second event, Innovation and Art. Bostonians will come together at the space at Neoscape to meet and mingle with Innovative local Boston companies, including Artaic (a mosaic tile design company), Artists for Humanity (a non-profit which trains youth in art and design careers), The Duplessy Foundation (an organization that mentors local artists while revitalizing Boston’s least developed neighborhoods), Project Repat (a company which upcycles your t-shirts into an awesome blanket), and Turning Art (an artwork membership program).
Performing at the event will be Boston based guitarist, Shun Ng. Shun performs often with Quincy Jones, who says about him, “When you see Shun Ng, you won’t believe your eyes nor your ears — he belies all stereotypes, all premonitions. I was simply blown away by both his soul and his science — his creativity and his uniqueness is astounding.”
This is a free event and is part of Idea Week.

This month, ONEin3 Council Members teamed up with City Year in Jamaica Plain to give a little something back. We joined hundreds of other volunteers on Saturday September 21st to transform the Hennigan Elementary School campus and create new resources for over 600 students.
Interesting ONEin3 Fact: City Year was founded in Boston by ONEin3ers 25 years ago! City Year works to empower young people to take on leadership positions, serve their communities, and stay in school. The day of service was followed by a festival featuring local bands, like Melodeego, clinics with Boston Celtics, food, games, and more!
Why: Because doing good things is fun. And spending time together is even better!
