Hi! I’m Melissa Oliva and I am originally from a small town in Vermont. I am a rising senior at Connecticut College and am interning at ONEin3 this summer. As a New Englander, it has always been my dream to work in Boston. Having the opportunity to live in the greater Boston area and intern at ONEin3 this summer will allow me to explore all that the city has to offer.
I chose to major in Economics and American Studies with a concentration in politics, society, and policy because of the focus on social and political theories and policies that explain American society. I believe this knowledge gives me a greater understanding of society and will allow me to make a positive impact on the city. Working for ONEin3 will enhance my understanding of the inner workings of governance in an urban environment that I hope will be beneficial to my future career.
As the digital media and communication intern, I hope to make a positive impact on the lives of ONEin3’s demographic of 20-34 year olds. ONEin3 has a multitude of resources regarding housing, professional development, financial health, entrepreneurship and civic engagement that I hope to make more transparent to the young adult population
I will be updating ONEin3’s Twitter, Blog, and Facebook accounts throughout the summer and would love to hear about events and initiatives that you believe are important for our demographic to know about. I believe that Boston has so much to offer, and hope these social media platforms will be helpful in informing you about what is happening throughout our city.
