ONEin3 Spotlight: Rob Biederman

Originally from Chappaqua, New York, Rob Biederman co-founded HourlyNerd while in business school to help small companies obtain access to the same great consulting and financial services that large businesses have.

HourlyNerd connects businesses with top MBA alumni and occasionally a few MBA students for flexible, low-cost consulting and financial advisory at rates much cheaper than other major consulting companies.

What started as a class project while at Harvard, HourlyNerd has already earned hundreds of thousands of dollars in venture funding, secured partnerships with companies like Microsoft, and supported hundreds of businesses in only one year since its founding on February 5, 2020.

Rob and his co-founders chose to grow HourlyNerd in Boston because they felt it only made sense to grow a company in such a great and fun city where they already had an established presence and many connections. Plus familial roots in Dorchester, only gave yet another reason to stay in Boston.

To this day HourlyNerd is still working tirelessly on generating more customer demand. Rob has come a long way from selling Lacoste polos in college and he still dreams of one day designing his own house. Ultimately, HourlyNerd wants to even the playing field by connecting small companies with the resources they need to grow and succeed at an affordable price.

ONEin3 Spotlight: Inaugural Impact Awards

Know someone doing good work in Boston? Nominate them for the2014 ONEin3 Impact Award!

ONEin3ers in Boston are entrepreneurs, engineers, artists and innovators, but most importantly, we want to have a positive impact on the community.  Across Boston, ONEin3ers are making an impact and it’s time to recognize our peers who are investing their time and energy to give back to their community.

We spend evenings tutoring BPS students to help prepare them for college, weekends working on murals to enliven our neighborhoods, and spare minutes raising money for causes near to our hearts.

The 2014 ONEin3 Impact Award aims to shine a well-deserved spotlight on 20-34 year olds who are doing outstanding work for important causes.  The award specifically serves to recognize leaders making a positive impact in their community through science, technology, engineering, arts and math (STEAM) - areas in which Boston has a rich history and bright future.

Winners will receive recognition from Mayor Martin. J. Walsh and be honored at the ONEin3 Impact Award Celebration in September.

ONEin3 Presents Public Art Happiness Project in Copley Square

ONEin3 Council asks residents and visitors what they love about the city

BOSTON – The 2014 ONEin3 Council is asking Bostonians to participate in a “Public Art Happiness Project” in Copley Square on Saturday, July 19. From 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, council members will ask passers-by to fill in the statement “We are Boston. Boston is____.” The phrase will appear on a large painted board and each participant will write in their unique answer on an IdeaPaint surface. Once the answer is recorded, it will be erased for the next person to write in their response.

Participants will be asked for their age, neighborhood and hometown. The process will be video-taped and photographed in order to capture each response. The group will produce a time-lapse video to illustrate the variety of responses and diversity of participants.

“Our goal is to capture Boston’s sprit in a fun and visually-appealing way,” said ONEin3 Boston Manager Chloe Ryan. “This project combines people’s enthusiasm for Boston with their passion for public art.”

ONEin3 will partner with local nonprofit YouthBuild Boston (YBB) and IdeaPaint to design and construct the display board. YBB members will also be present on Saturday to help encourage participation in the project.

“We are extremely excited about the way in which the Mayor’s ONEin3 Council is going to activate the community of Boston and curate feedback through a public art piece,” said Jeff Avallon, VP of Corporate Development, IdeaPaint.  “IdeaPaint is all about collaboration and this is a perfect example of the city coming together in a fun way to celebrate what Boston is all about.”
