Wine Riot by The Second Glass - Get Your Tickets ASAP!

The Second Glass is run by Boston Young Entrepreneurs superstars Morgan First and Tyler Balliet. They are awesome.

Wine Riot is their marquee event and it is especially awesome. Think big circular room filled with all sorts of great wine that you can try out and an entire room full of cool, interesting people who also happen to be knowledgeable about wine.

Bottom line: this event is amazing and it showed at their April edition, which was a 100% sellout.

This time around it’s even better because 90 + Cellars, a local Boston winery that’s pretty cool in its own right, is sponsoring the Wine Riot Lounge and will be pouring a set of Wine Riot label wines which will blow your mind.

If I tried to highlight everything at Wine Riot, this blog would turn into a novella, but suffice it to say there will be a DJ, Taza chocolate, a photo booth, temporary (and probably real) tattoos, a roving wine intelligence unit and a lot more. You should go.

Dates:

  • Friday, October 22nd - Opening Night Riot 7-11pm, $55, 500 tickets on sale
  • Saturday, October 23rd
    • Riot One 1-5pm, $45, 1000 tickets on sale
    • Riot Two 7-11pm, $45, 1000 tickets on sale

Location: Boston Center for the Arts Cyclorama, 539 Tremont Street, South End

Tickets: Tickets, get your tickets here!

PS. The Second Glass has a brand new site launched in time for Wine Riot. The new site (and mobile site, which is way more convenient in the moment) makes it easy to remember the wines you like or dislike so you can buy/avoid them the next time you’re at the liquor store. It’s pretty cool, check it out.

Honor Inc. Magazine’s Bostonian 30 Under 30 Entrepreneurs - Oct 5th

This year, Inc. Magazine honored 3 Massachusetts companies in their 30 Under 30 series including 3 good friends of Boston Young Entrepreneurs.

Of course, Second Glass‘ Tyler Balliet and Morgan First are two of our favorite people and we think they should win all the awards…just a straight sweep…so we’re not surprised they were plucked out and honored. But also, Dan Schawbel of Millennium Branding who shared his expertise with BYE, and Her Campus founders Annie Wong, Stephanie Kaplan and Windsor Genevieve Hanger were named. Not a bad showing for good old Massachusetts.

On October 5th, the Massachusetts Office of Small Business and Entrepreneurship is hosting an event at the State House to honor these hometown favorites and provide resources to the rest of us who haven’t yet reached those heights.

Boston Young Entrepreneurs will be there and we hope you will join us.

Click here for more information and to register.

Lest we fail to mention, this event is part of a great series called BREW Boston (Boston Region Entrepreneurship Week), which ties together all the events happening in the Boston area during the first couple weeks of October. We highly recommend you take a look at their calendar and get out there!

NB: We originally listed this as the 7th. The actual date is the 5th. Thanks to eagle-eyed reader Mike Sweeney for helping us out!

Podcasts, Wine and (don't groan because it's amazing) the CENSUS!!!

Hello my lovely ONEin3ers on this dreary Friday.  I hope everyone enjoyed ONEin3’s first podcast.  As someone who has absolutely no interest in entrepreneurship, I was completely fascinated by Morgan and her journey.  In addition, wine is always fun to talk about so that was just icing on the podcast cake.

Why am I saying this?

I guess I can’t stress enough that everyone can benefit from listening to Morgan’s words about business but most of all life.  In addition, you will learn a bit about wine….and I don’t know about you, but I am always impressed when I stumble across someone who knows their stuff when it come to the finer things in life (get more info on wine at Second Glass’ website!).

So listen to the podcast and be even more impressive than you already are my fabulous ONEin3 community!!!

On a different note, I know everyone and your mother has been telling you to fill out the census.  I filled it out and sent it back, and personally I have a bone to pick with the false advertising that the Bureau of the Census has been putting out.

Unless you have the reading capabilities of Charlie Kelly from the TV show “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” and are filling the form out with a pen that is out of ink it will not take you ten minutes to fill out the census.  It will take you about three minutes if not less.  So to use the phrase my parents loved saying to me throughout my childhood…”suck it up and just do it.”

It will mean a lot to everyone, your country, your city, and even local celebrity Devin Cole. (more…)

ONEin3's FIRST Podcast with Morgan First from Second Glass!!

As my  my fellow intern Nitjyot would attest, I don’t give out many compliments.  However, it is hard to meet Morgan First of Second Glass and not be utterly impressed.   After graduating from Emerson College a semester early, my fellow redhead, took Boston by storm, founding not one but two successful businesses before the age of 26.

She is pretty amazing and has experience and advice that not only is useful to entrepreneurs everywhere but anyone wanting to establish themselves in the business world.  After listening to Morgan tell ONEin3 of her journey, not only will you be convinced there is nothing she can’t do…but pretty certain you can do whatever you set your mind to as well.  ENJOY!!!!

PS.  Don’t miss Tyler Balliet’s special guest appearance at the end and the tips about Boston he bestows on all our ONEin3 community!!!
