Hello, and welcome to my blog! My name is Matt. This blog is about money, and how I don’t have enough of it.
The other bloggers on this site are experts on money and personal finance. I definitely am not. I’m here to provide the alternative perspective: the young Bostonian confronting money issues on a daily basis and learning to put together a sustainable budget.
This means that I won’t always be dispensing advice on good credit and responsible spending habits like these other bloggers. I would certainly encourage you to seek out their advice – people like us need people like them to keep us from blowing all our money on car stereo equipment and spiraling into bankruptcy. But my role here is more of a fellow traveler, holding your hand as you face the little budget challenges that life throws your way. And maybe along the way I’ll dispense some advice of my own. Like, “Hey, don’t spend thirty bucks on that bootleg concert VHS. You don’t even have a VCR. Maybe spend that money on boneless chicken breasts, I hear they’re on sale.”
I’m also going to do my best to keep this blog a conversation, not a monologue. I don’t always want to be the one dropping knowledge on you guys; there’ll be some give and take. So next week I might say, “Hey, what’s a good place to get cheap booze in Allston?” And then a half dozen people in the comments section will say, “Oh, check out Marty’s.” And then another half dozen people will say, “No, Marty’s closed back in March.” And then there will be a dozen comments about how much it sucks that Marty’s closed, because man, that place was great.
That’s the kind of lively discussion I’m hoping to have around here. I hope you like my blog.
