“Open Door Network connects ONEin3ers with a good cause,” says Alissa (South Boston, 28) Development Associate at Project Place
Chances are if you’re a young professional living in Boston, you have been looking for a larger sense of community. You have a job, friends, family, and a social life. But you don’t have a cause to rally around, or a group to belong to. The Open Door Network is both.
ODN is a fun and growing group of young professionals in the area concerned with homelessness and joblessness in Boston. This Network supports Project Place, a non-profit in the South End that runs programs for homeless and low-income individuals, giving them skills and knowledge to get back into the workforce.
Open Door Network volunteers help out with Project Place’s Annual Valentine’s Day brunch and get together for post-work networking events.
Founded in 2009, the Open Door Network is a merger between young professionals in Boston and a good cause; it’s an idea that has equal benefit. ODN members participate in fundraising events and volunteer opportunities throughout the year to benefit Project Place programs and services.
The group runs trivia nights and other networking events in the city for that help raise money for Project Place. If you are interested in joining the ODN list serve, please contact Sarah at [email protected].
